Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total playoff homers, making him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team that has never reached in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
