Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
