A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason of the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested are in custody, according to authorities.

Police said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the building managing the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, it was reported.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and wearing what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
