Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
