In the wake of a pivotal victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, the reigning world champion has significantly reduced the margin in the title race. He now finds himself just 12 points behind leader Lando Norris and in front of teammate Oscar Piastri, everything is in place for a thrilling three-way championship battle at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit.

What makes this championship charge so impressive is how far he has recovered. Following the Zandvoort round in August, he was a staggering over a century of points behind the then-leader Oscar Piastri and had essentially conceded his title chances.

The reversal began with substantial technical upgrades introduced by his team at the Italian Grand Prix. Changes to the vehicle's underbody and front wing rectified ongoing performance deficits, allowing the driver to regain confidence with the chassis once more.

Following those upgrades, his performance has been utterly formidable, racking up five victories and multiple podiums. He made sure to praise the collective effort behind this resurgence.

"We've won races where maybe it seemed unlikely, by executing the right call as a unit," he explained. "The partnership with my race engineer and the whole team... we are perfectly synchronized."

The Stakes for a Memorable Finale.

Ahead of the head to Abu Dhabi, the championship picture is perfectly defined.

• Lando Norris can secure his first-ever world title if he outpaces both Verstappen and Piastri or secures a top-three position.
• Max Verstappen has to take the checkered flag first and requires that his rival finishes off the podium.
• Oscar Piastri, who is by 16 points, must also win and see Norris finish sixth or worse.

The pressure falls squarely on the papaya-colored cars, who have seen a sizable lead disappear due to costly errors, including a exclusion for both cars in Las Vegas.
